Hello, A few months ago I got two OCZ 1GB PC2-6400 (400Mhz) Ram to replace my old 2 x 512mb ones. However, when I installed the new ram and let it run at its default frequency (400Mhz), the system would not boot properly, and if it did then there were many errors with programs and such, like random restarts and fatal errors. My Gigabyte M61P - S3 motherboard says it can take the Dual Channel DDR2 800 which is what they are. So i went into the BIOS and changed the 'Memory clock' from the auto of 800 to 667, which is equivalent to 333Mhz frequency. Everything else is on default, standard 200Mhz FSB etc. They are now running at about 333MHz each, which is below their normal potential, but i have them running at timings for 400Mhz, 5.5.5.15.23 and command rate at 1T. But even so I have been experiencing fatal errors in some programs, and Memtest has been getting lots of errors too. I am running AMD athlon 64 x2 3600+ dual core processor at 2000Mhz. Could someone please tell me what I should try to do, what I should change, because I would really want to get my ram running at the maximum potential 400Mhz with stability. I would be ok with them running at the current 333 Mhz stably, but I dont see why they cant run at their normal frequencies on a board that supports them..
Are you running the most current bios for your mobo? Also have you check out the OCZ website. They have a great technical support forum. Also they may be able to tell you a litte more....
