My computer just shuts off every 5 minutes randomly. I thought it was the entourage episode I was watching but I've tried it a few different ways now and it's pretty steady...every 5 minutes just shuts off then restarts. Is this a power source problem or is it something crazy to do with the motherboard or virus related?

    Thanks in advance.

check in the bios to see what the cpu temp is as it sounds like thermal shutdown. is the cpu fan heatsink assembly clean?

that would be a good thing to do open up the side case and vacumme out the cob webs and dust, but make sure that you turn the system off first before you do that ok? like un plug it!

Alright well I've vacuumed everything out but now it won't turn on at all. If I turn off the power supply, then turn it back on it will try to start the fans and power up but then it shuts off within a second or two. The lights on the motherboard all light up when I turn the power supply on. I'm lost...

That sounds like faulty ram or a lose connection.

disconnect all cables to drives, remove all cards & ram except for video card & 1 stick of ram. reseat those 2. look at the motherboard at the silver topped can shaped objects that are capacitors, are any of them domed or leaking? try another psu.
