For the past year or so, I've been having issues with my computer rebooting itself without any sort of rhyme or reason. I've been able to cope with it until recently, since it has now become MUCH more prevalent, particularly when I'm playing a game titled Gunz (info on the game can be found here, for the curious). Where I once was only "auto-rebooted", as I'll call it, once or twice a month, it now occurs once every 5-10 minutes while playing this game. I'm seeing similar issues crop up in Team Fortress 2 and Half Life 2; both games close at random times, and no explanation is given.

This is starting to wear a bit thin on my patience, so any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

P.S.: Hellgate: London does not seem to suffer from this malady, for whatever reason.

    Other possibilities include:
Dirty or worn out cooling fans
    Weak or faulty power supply
    Weak or faulty graphics card
    RAM overheating.
    Any beep codes?

Some component of your PC is croaking it, it seems, most likely graphics card since it happens most often when you play games.

It could be overheating severely and then restarting your system to prevent damage to it's internal components.

    Post your specs plz.
Btw have you over clocked your CPU/GPU by any chance?

Not a fix but... Had a Compaq do that to me many times. So, I took off the cover and aimed a fan at the motherboard. That made it run fine from then on.. I've heard that it's most likely the power supply but i never pursued the problem farther.

Switched out my video card, and that seems to have done the trick. Thank you all for your responses.

Feel free to close this topic.
