Hi,a noob here, looked for similar thread but cannot find one.My problem is that my computer will randomly reboot, but only when using Nero.It does it 3-4 times out of 10 and at different times, when burning(most annoying as it screws up yet another disc),when creating a menu, when encoding, just about anytime.
    This ONLY happens with Nero.
I have win xp sp2,2gightz semperon and latest Nero 7.Have just upgraded to Nero 7(to try and fix problem)but no luck(it also randomly rebooted with all earlier versions.
Thanks and any help would be most welcome.
    Tony.

Post your complete nero error log,
(Remove your serial # first of course).

Once you have copy and pasted the log,
One of our highly skilled members will analaze the
log and hopefully decipher the problem.

Good luck and welcome to the forums.

Hi,thanks for quick reply.Where do I find error log,as the computer just reboots and starts up like nothing has happened,no"your computer has recovered from a serious error"message or anything.Just the normal screen as if i had just turned on the computer and when I restart Nero it has no log or memory of what happened(its like someones slipped it some rhohipnol).Usually I just restart the project and it continues like nothing has happened. It completes the project about 99% of the time as long as it does not randomly reboot again.
    thanks again
    Tony.

A virus scan along w/ spyware scan as swarmpack is a good idea.

Sounds like you are using Vision which is pretty cpu intensive.
You may be overheating which is causing the pc to reboot.
Keep airflow clear and cleaning out the dust in the pc is always a good idea.

Keep as much memory free as possible. I see your specs but not the amount of ram you have. Your log can show us this.

You've also tried several versions of Nero. Another thing would be to uninstall and then do a clean install. Run the clean tool after uninstalling:

Even running this Nero still leaves a lot of crap behind so after running the clean tool and rebooting run ccleaner too before installing.

@swarmpack, I meant things like Sonic etc will be picked up.

@binkie7, I thought it might be worth taking a look at the log for any other possibilities, Cheers.

I agree but random rebooting for the other causes may not be seen in the log.
Rebooting can happen when the pc is trying to 'protect' itself, infected virus/spyware or driver conflicts to name a few.

Since it's only Nero and it's happened w/ a few different version - I'm thinking towards ram/overheating or driver conflict.

    hi tony2965
i had the same problem and thought it was nero but was told it was my fan making the pc overheat(like binkie7 said - You may be overheating which is causing the pc to reboot.)best to clean it out first and see if that is the problem.
also when i had the same problem and checked to see if there was a nero history log to find the problem it did not make one, not sure why but you might not have a history log to check.
    hope this helped

Your right w/ windows rebooting Nero is probably not saving the log.
The logs that may be in there would be when the problem isn't happening.
    May shed some light.
And txs for posting what worked for you.

Hi thanks everyone for help, sorry I have not replied sooner ive been away for over a week(family funeral).
Heres the answer to your questions(in no particular order),

    1. I have looked and theres no log to show you.

    2. The other burning programs I have are Santa,Decrypter and Shrink.

    3. I have run verious scans with AVG,Spybot,no adware, spyware blaster and a-squared(scans run most days and always up to date).I run full AVG and windows defender and so far have found no problems (yet).

    4. Did not think of the fan so I will get my duster and marigolds out and give it a good clean.

    5. PC in computer desk cuboard(back is open)but air flow not great.Just taken a peak inside and fan not biggest ever seen so might upgrade.

    6. I have 512 ram.

    7. When uninstalling and installing Nero I have always used Nero cleantool.

Hope this sheds some more light and thanks again for all your help(I will spare you all from my next apocolipse :) )

    Thanks, Tony.

    Hi tony2965
Sorry to hear about your loss :(

Give the pc a good cleaning - dust accumulation can def. cause the pc to overheat and esp. when using a heavy cpu resource prog like Vision.
Get some airflow going in the cupboard or you may want to take it out of the there.
512mb of ram is good - just keep as much free as possible esp when using Vision.

Do a disc up and system defrag too if you haven't recently.

    Keep us posted!
