ive been having a problem with my HP notebook. it randomly shuts off at any given time? i have checked the power settings and browsed some things in my settings and nothing i have found has fixed the problem? the one thing that i have noticed is that the bottom gets really hot? i guess my questiong is would this be a safety precaution? maybe the fan isnt cooling or something of that nature? i know its too hot to sit on my lap after about 30 minutes and i cannot leave it on anyways cuz it shuts down?? could this be the reason because the notebook is getting to hot? any response will be appreciated thanks all
Your laptop may be full of dust and needs to be cleaned out. I don't know how to take a laptop apart to do it, though. Hopefully, someone who does, will stop in and give you the "how to".
within the last 2 months i have taken it apart to add new memory and took the back off and used compressed air to blow it out?? could it be the memory i added?? i had 1024mb(2 - 512mb) and now i have 2 1gb sticks??? running win xp
don't think it is the ram that is causing the problem as it would do other things instead. is the cpu fan blowing any air out of the laptop as your problem points to cpu thermal shutdown?
it doesnt seem that the fan is blowing any air out? could it have been something i did when i took off the back? i didnt mess with anything except for the ram and the hard drive? and is it something difficult to repair if it is the fan ? or am i better off taking it in to a shop?
the random shut off was occuring before i installed the new ram so im stumped i dont really understand it ??
