I have used Intervideo DVDCopy 4 since version 2. Since that time I have started using AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 from Slysoft.

However I still use IVDC 4 at times to convert things from Divix or to Dvix or to play on my Mobile phone, or iPod etc.

However I just wanted to give everyone my review of this software.

    The Good:

It is very fast easy and the movie quality is excellent.

“It can merge movies from several discs onto one; create DVDs from many types of movie files (for example, MPEG, AVI, MOV--even straight from the Internet); and reencode to MPEG-1 (VCD), MPEG-2 (SVCD and DVD), WMV, DivX, and even the 3GPP and 3GPP2 formats for cell phones. Brand new in the latest version of the Platinum edition is H.264 encoding in Sony PSP-, Apple iPod-, and PC-compatible flavors, plus MPEG-4 with PSP, iPod, and Game Boy output.” – CNet

You can span a DVD over two DVD’s to keep the original quality, or you can shrink it to fit onto one DVD. It does a decent job with scratched DVD’s (even better than CloneDVD 2) but not as good as DVD X-Rescue. It has a preview window that you can also cut scenes with or add to.

    The BAD:

    1. It is slow to open
    2. No tech or help form
    3. Customer Service stinks – email and wait. When you do get an answer many times it’s not even to the question you asked. Also if they can’t solve your problem in one or two email, they just start ignoring your emails (this has happened in every version – with my test anyway.)
    4. You can’t make a new folder to save temp files. If the folder doesn’t already exist you have to exit from window create the folder you want to save it to and then try again.
    5. Updates? They update the software, but the user is NEVER aware of it. The only way I know is to download from their site and check the version.
    6. The preview window works but if you try to preview a movie from a source other than your DVD it can hang to a point you have to ALT+CRTL+DEL shut down the program and try again.
    7. DVD Writer support. Here they are very flimsy. I have two DVD burners a Sony DRU-510A and a 710A. Guess what? I can’t burn directly to the 710A because it isn’t supported. I can only burn to my HDD then I have to use a different app to burn the files. You would think they would have a better DVD support.
    8. Price. $79.95 for the Platinum version $29.95 upgrade price.

So even with it’s short comings I still use it for things that others just can’t do, or do well. However if they would just put a little attention to some of these items like DVD support this program could very well take off as it is I have to give it a rating of 6 out of 10.

Your mileage may vary. Again this is JMO.

IC 3 or 4 is the only software of which one can say both , it is the best transcoder outthere and it is also the worst transcoder outthere.
