I have a second question: I recently downloaded a foreign movie, and the subtitles were downloaded as a separate file. The movie is in Russian, and as that I don't speak Russian, they are somewhat of a necessity. How do I get them to play with the movie? They're a RAR file, btw.

Open up the rar files and see what type of files are there.

If you have these file types:
    .idx
    .ifo
    .sub

then you need to download vobsub and use Directvobsub to decode the subtitles.

NOTE: The movie has to be in the same directory as the subtitle files.

I cannot open the rar file to see what types of files are within it. When I try, Windows displays a message that says it needs to know what program created it. I can either select from a useless list of programs (such as Real Player), or search the internet, which just goes to a Windows page and offers a program to buy.

    The file name is: movie_name_(2002).Vobsubs.CHASE.sharereactor.rar

I downloaded Vobsubs, and both the subtitles rar file and the video file are in the same folder, but they still don't work...do I have to open the rar files and synchronize them or something?

You need winrar to open the rar files.
