Hi everyone, currently new here, I hope some of you can help with out!

The one thing I have always had trouble understanding (regardless of reading various tutorials and such) is video converting, compressing, decompressing etc.

I have loads of totally raw uncompressed AVI files (many GB's worth) (from digital camera).

I have the software of MediaCoder.

I need to know the easiest way to convert these raw AVI files into the best mainstream compressed format without any noticeable quality loss.

    Cheers,

    David

Are you wanting to backup the files or just compress them
If compressing it would probably need to be compressed with a different file type like .mkv if you want to keep the quality.
If you want to backup to DVD, programs like pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate can convert to DVD and you shouldn't lose quality with that program. Pinnacle can also convert video files to other formats, but I don't think .mkv is on the list.
