    hello everyone,

bought an unlocked razr v3r last week. got it, charged it up fully, popped in my t-mobile sim card, and it sees nothing but cingular networks. where i live at, all major carriers are available and all have pretty good signal but the phone just can't seem to see any network other than cingular. I've contacted the company who sold me the phone and has assurred me that it was indeed unlocked and they have now clue what's wrong with it. so now i come seeking some insight from the board members here. Does anyone know what the problem is? or how to fix it?? I can make calls and recieve calls even in it's current state but i am roaming apparently. All help is appreciated.

Dumb question, but is the network selection set on manual versus automatic? Can you contact your carrier and have them reflash your phone with their latest updated software? Can you send/recieve text messages? ANy more info would be appreciated.

well i've tried both modes (manual and auto) from the time i got the phone and it made no difference. however, i have not contacted t-mobile about the problem given they didn't provide me the phone. but i might drop in and ask them what's up. any other ideas???

ok. so i called t-mobile to see what they had to say about the problem.... well they didn't say much other than they don't have anything software wise to help fix the phone. so they told me to call motorola cause they'd have the items needed. So i called motorola and they checked the imei number. turns out the phone was made exclusivly for europe and by flash and us software to it would brick the phone.... GREAT I GOT HOSED! so I wanted to see if ya'll might have anymore possible solutions. I've also left voice mail for the reseller of the phone to see what he could work out for me.

I think my phone has the exact same problem. My phone will not work either, and it said it was supposed to be unlocked. Then I found out that my phone was from Europe as well. I tried to unlock it with some software but it didn't work. Did you ever get your phone working?

where did you buy the phone? If it was a place like Ebay you can always contact them or paypal if thats what you used to pay for it.

bricked means that the phone has become un-usable... like a brick. lol. Usually there some sort of software damage that makes the phone not start up or stay in the boot-loader. To the best of my knowledge it can be fixed by using a smart-clip or ultima box that reflashes the phone for you.
