I TOO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE DISCS (USING THE BRAND THAT RCA SUGGESTED) GIVING AN ERROR MESSAGE AND THEN FINALIZING THE DISC. I TOOK IT INTO AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD I CAN ONLY USE THE DVD+RW DISCS WHICH I KNOW IS NOT WHAT THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK (WHICH I DO NOT HAVE ANYMORE) SAYS. I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH RCA AS THEY AGREE WITH THE SERVICE CENTER. I AM WAITINF FOR A MANUAL FOR IT WHERE I AM HOPING IT SAYS YOU CAN USE EITHER THE +R OR +RW DISCE NOT JUST THE +RWS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR UNIT. THANKS!
According to this features list, it plays DVD+/-R/RW and records on DVD-R media. It does not record on the +R or +RW media. http://www.bizrate.com/dvdvcrcombos/pid369634693/information.html I don't know why an authorized repair center would tell you different unless the one I'm looking at is wrong. I'd want them to show me where they are getting their information from. I'd try the -R media and see if that works. BTW, all caps is not allowed here. Cheers, Frank
sorry i was not aware that all caps was not allowed. as far as the recorder goes i was using the +r's and didn't have any trouble for @ 7 or 8 monthes, then that is when it started giving me that message and that is slwo why i could not return it since the receipt was long gone. anyway the place i took it was a supposedly an authourized repait center but i had to supply the dvd as they couldn't seem to find one. personally i think they should have had one on hand just because it is a tool of the trade so to speak. i also have always been the one to make contact as to how things were going and so forth. i can't take it out of their show yet because it is now out of warranty and if i took it somewhere else i would have to pay for the repair or purchase a new unit. kind of a catch 22 if you know what i mean. oh well, we;ll wait and see what happens.
