Re-Installing burner firmware after each burn??

    Does anyone know why I have to re-install my Sony DRU-500AX drive firmware after each burn that I do? If I don't re-install, the drive won't recognize any DVD that I put in.

    It sounds like the flash isn't installing properly. The firmware goes on to a chip in the drive itself not on the hard drive. Therefore if installed properly it can't be removed unless you flash again. Either the firmware is corrupt or the drive is defective and not storing the firmware.
