Re-Installing Windows

    Hello,
    I have a legal copy of windows pre-installed on my computer,
    but i want to format my harddrive and re-install my computer and re-install windows with out a cd is it possible to do this??? i know my product key

    Well, if you own a legal key, you can just use any windows cd *has to be the same windows though, can't use a win98 key with XP for instance*, so you could just borrow a windows cd from a friend, provided you don't have a pre-built system like a Dell, HP, Packard Bell or Emachine (or similar brand).
    IF you have one of those, you usually need a special reinstall disc with the appropriate drivers and software.

    Call Dell, ask for a reinstall disc.
    Or if you know anyone that has the same model Dell that has a repair disc, ask them...
    Doesn't it have a repair partition either ?

    yes it has a utility partition, i will look atthat and contact dell, and get back 2 you. thanks.
