Hi all, lately i've connected 2 PCs together to share an internet connection using a Modem/Switch/Router (Speedtouch), and not by using ICS. One PC has Ms XP installed whilst the other has Ms Vista. I've assigned different IPs to both computers & same default gateway. Ms XP is working fine and had no problem at all connecting to Internet & to the other computer (when the latter's on the network) but ... The problem is that on Ms Vista the network & Internet aren't always detected. Most of the times the netork is found (to which i give a name) but the Internet isn't. At times it detects nothing and after some disabling LAN connection & refreshing IPs, somehow the Network (or even the Internet) starts working. The funny thing is that at times it finds both network & Internet and everything's working fine. ..I've been looking everywhere for tips or advice but ...in vain. I would GREATLY appreciate any help. Hi there, First off, Vista is very picky when it comes to networking. After doing some fishing (not sure what model your Speedtouch is?) I think this trouble could be related to your modem. Anyhow I'm posting a link here for some Vista drivers provided one of these is your Speedtouch http://www.thomson.net/GlobalEnglis...ways/windows_vista_support/Pages/default.aspx Also more info there about what isn't supported. Then, Microsoft has a Internet Connectivity Tool which I'll post that here too. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx Maybe that will provide some useful information. But like I said Vista sure is picky and there could be many things causing it to do this. Keep us posted on what you find as we may have to try many things if it's not your modem. Good Luck!

Now, my Modem's a Speedtouch 546v6 which only connects via Ethernet, so drivers shouldn't be a problem. (no USB obv.) I've run that Ms Internet Connectivity Tool you posted. As you might know, it consists of 6 Tests: My main concern is Test 2 and 5. The results of Test 3 & 4 are obvious since I've run the test from the Ms XP PC, since I can't even connect to the internet with the VISTA PC (both XP & VISTA PCs are using same modem). Can I in some way post/show you 2 pictures? So I concluded that the Modem/Router might not be fully compatible with VISTA, would be much better if someone could verify this for me though. I probably found what was wrong... I couldn't believe it! ..The problem was just the Ethernet jack, it wasn't making contact all the times, usually after I touched/moved the Modem/Router. I apologise for being so stupid but I only figured this out after noticing the LED switched off next to the Ethernet Port (at the back of Modem). THANKS A LOT M8! I've also learned quite a no. of things though!
