I'm ready to install a new CD/DVD drive and the NERO software that came with it (Nero Express 6.6). I have Uninstalled the *other R.. program* and deleted all the leftover *R* folders in Program Files but not the shared files called AudioFilter, NavFilter, Videofilter and the CLRCEngine2.dll because I don't know if they are shared with Windows Media Player. I don't want to mess that up. I have previously had *R* on my machine, but don't want any foulups between the leftover its settings (lots of them in the Registry) and NERO What is the common knowledge with NERO users about the *R software* files in the Registry. Can they just be left alone, or will they interfere with NERO?
Hi dots6ego It's usually Roxio's packet writing software and the driver that can cause problems. Drag to disc I thinks it's called. The driver is CDRALW2K.SYS. If that's gone or you had the packet writing software installed you should be good.
or after you uninstalled Roxio... then use the Roxio Zapper ..... this will take out all traces of "R*" program from your computer and it's safe to use! won't hurt anything! Roxio Zapper: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
Ah good point IHoe. The zapper! Oops re reading my post meant to type - if you didn't have the packet writing software installed
I guess I'm ready to go, then. Searched for cdral.w2k.sys and am clean. By the way, that zapper was for versions 4 and 5, so may not have the w2k piece in it. Thanks. Isn't it great to have a place to ask these pesky questions?
