You mean Real Media? It can be used for content other than movies. Problem with rm/rmvb is the proprietary nature of it. Still cook audio has been reverse engineered, plus some of the older formats use standard compression schemes such as AC3 and newer files use aac audio. Still means that real's own decoders are needed to decode most content. The two main ways would probably be using Gabest's Real Media splitter or mencoder. Then there are some apps such as EO video that have their own interface to real's decoders.
