Well, when you flip up-side-down, does the inner hub has any of these codes on it i.e. "GG", "GD" or "TG" and some numbers after that? If you have any of the above then it is genuine Yuden. Base on the information you provided, I believe it is real Taiyo Yuden. Here is an example of mine.
to clarify what alkohol stated very nicely, to be MORE precise, look for TG00xxxx (where the xxxx represent the batch number of when it was actually made, the xxxx will be numerical values, NOT letters)coding on the inner hub when u flip it over to check~ these are the 8x dvd+r Taiyo Yudens, but, the media ID coding can easily be faked as i have some 8x dvd-r with almost IDENTICAL coding other than the fact it's TYG02 rather than the YUDEN000T02 coding, the manufacturer/company description is IDENTICAL to the scan you have above... hope that clarifies things for you, just do a quick check on the ACTUAL disc and see if you can locate the numbers both alkohol and myself have mentioned...if this is AUTHENTIC, it WILL start with "TG00xxxx"
Congratulations david20, you've got the real (genuine) Yuden right there. Yep.... Taiyo Yuden ROCK..!!
alkohol is a quick one~ yes, you heard it from me as well, you got the REAL THING right there~ happy burning~
i bought some ty discs off ebay and they garunteed they are real but when i got them today the package says power burn dvd's..im not sure i want to open the package.......they look like ty's but are they real?????? POWER BURN..anyone ever heard of these????? tahnks
Hmmm, E-Bay and off brand name, smells fishy, look at the area near the inner ring and see if you can read a number imprinted near the inner hub. Mine say GD000321. Hope that this helps you...(not powerburn but real TY's from www.supermediastore.com
the only way you gonna KNOW for sure is if you open it up and check for the inner hub coding on the discs themselves, while even i have never heard of "powerburn" brand before, they very well could use Taiyo Yuden as their OEM manufacturer...it IS a possibility... unfortunately, that is the only way you can be CERTAIN...lastly, i wouldn't recommend buying media off ebay...that's a def. no no~! docTY~
How about the code GG000077 on the inner hub of the disk? Are they real TY's? Checked the media id and it says TYG02. Does the code on the disc vary for TY's?
Yes, they are batch numbers used to track and keep tabs on quality control during the manufacturing process.
@dvdsoul well, that coding DOES verify that you GOT REAL Taiyo Yudens, in terms of the coding ON THE DISC, yes, it DOES vary from disc to disc...the ones you got happen to be the earlier 8x dvd-r TYG02s, made quite some time ago...but, nevertheless, they are real~ the GG000xxx (where xxx is the batch number of WHEN it was made...the lower the number, the earlier they were made...naturally, the larger the number, ie. xxxx being 1234 means it was manufactured more recently...natural progression you could say)... the inner hub coding varies for ALL Taiyo Yudens, but is on EVERY SINGLE REAL/AUTHENTIC Taiyo Yuden... 4x dvd-r = GD000xxx 8x dvd-r = GG000xxx 8x dvd+r = TG000xxx 16x dvd-r = GH000xxx 16x dvd+r = don't know yet as my shipment of the 16x dvd+r with the YUDEN000T03 coding have not arrived yet...will update you guys once i get them in... docTY~
I just got this from an online shop, my first buy there. Inner ring says GG000077, basically same as dvdsoul. But if these are that 'old', wouldn't it be weird they are still on the market? Or doesn't that matter and it's just real fo show ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:TYG02] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R] Manufacturer Name : [Taiyo Yuden Co. Maybe its some old stock. But so far no problems for me using those discs except that I can clearly see the rings on the recorded surface after I burn a disc. Not sure if its normal but the discs play fine and I also checked for CRC errors and no errors as well. Where did you buy those from? Supermediastore?
