real to mp3 problems

I'm trying to convert streaming realaudio files to mp3 so i can burn them to cd. At first I tried downloading streambox ripper (from here):

After I downloaded it I was unable to start the program for some reason; just got an error message.

Then I downloaded dbpoweramp music converter (version 11). I succeeded in converting a file to mp3, but when i try to play the mp3 file it is silent. I can see it playing on media player, but there's no audible sound.

Can anyone suggest anything?
