    Hey,

I'm trying to update the box for my father using:
    http://www.freewebs.com/boxsuper/

But I'm stuck on step 8.
What the heck is it? I'm lost and don't understand where to find the gtrom.

I know the posrt my usb is at but can't get past this step.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I'm very stupid when it comes to this so as simple as you can!

scouser and hitek amongst others have links to whatever you need to update, maybe start over with their step by step guides and download the gt rom and latest firmware on the links they provide

The GTRom is the Firmware and Loader (All in One combined) for The Box Super, presume it does say this at the top left hand side corner of box, if so then it is Starview 3 The Box Super so all the information you need you can find in Eamo's FTA Library (LINK) at the bottom of my post, but this is the Firmware you will need for that box >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I had that downloaded already. Didn't realise it was what I needed.

But when I go to download the files on that I keep getting 'flash update fail'.

Any idea what's going wrong? I've tried different COM's.

    Thanks again

Right, then I guess that you are either running a PC/Laptop with OS Vista, or a Null Modem lead connected to a USB adaptor, or possibly both. If it is your first attempt at flashing a box, then I would advise you to get to a Friend/Aquaintance that has a standalone PC or an old Laptop running OS XP and has the correct 9 pin serial port, that way you should have no problem and it will save you a lot of headache - lot's of people do have issues when using Vista and USB adaptors.
