I am running Windows XP SP1 on my PC. I installed RealPlayer10 yesterday as I got hold of some realplayer files. After installation, when I try to open a realplayer file(.rm, .rmvb) I get the error message that RealPlayer will be closed down due to problem. On clicking the details button, it says something about exception errors - a long list of them. I uninstalled and reinstalled but the same problem. I the tried installing the Real Alternative 1.44 also but that too closes down. So what can be the problem? Any idea how to fix this? The same player can play very well on my office PC.
    Please help me out.

Installing real alt and real player can cause conflicts, same goes for codec packs. If you want MPC, you can just download it by itself.

About the only thing left to try that supports real media playback is mplayer. Still uses real's dll's though for playback of RV9/10, cook audio, etc.

Did Media Player Classic play the rm/rmvb?

No. Windows Media Player did not play the real files. Haven't tried MPC though. Will try.
