About three days ago I started noticing problems with my connection; it would intermittently drop out or leave me staring at "Looking up www.google.com" when I would start firefox. Resetting the modem would fix it but it kept coming back. Two days ago it got so bad that the internet became unusable. When I ran MBAM/Spybot S&D on my machine I found hundreds of malware entries (Vundo, TDSS, userinit etc). They kept coming back after cleaning and rebooting.

Also, some kind of adware that redirects my google clicks to "clickcheck.ru" and "cowsurvey.com" keeps reappearing. Zonealarm's zlclient.exe and vsmon.exe are eating tons of CPU, and I can't keep the machine connected to the internet for more than an hour or so without it killing the connection. When it's off the network the other machines use it without an issue. The problem simply won't go away. With great difficulty, I got the text from last night's HiJackThis log:

I have already used the program to fix the following entries:

    O1 - Hosts: tect.com
    O1 - Hosts: 91.212.65.122 www.antiwareprotect.com
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: zhpvlm.dll

The first two seemed promising, and it appeared, for a brief, hopeful moment (about twenty minutes) that it was over. Then my internet started lagging like hell while I was trying to play Counter-Strike: Source, and within an hour the google redirects had returned and I was unable to load web pages again. I have no idea how the problem got this deeply rooted or how to fix it. As far as logs go, the machine isn't recognizing USB drives so it's very difficult for me to obtain them. Any suggestions, however, would be appreciated.

What I think you have is a respawning issue many viruses and trojans hide in the system restore files and once you reboot they respawn. Try running your scans both anti-spyware and anti-virus then disable system restore, reboot run scans again and if you can download superantispyware or malwarebytes and avira antivir to install these you will not need to uninstall avg make sure avg is up to date I am currenly using AVG 8.5 free edition. you will need to perform all the scans again. Ridding yourself of infections is a multi scan tedious task as you remove one layer often there is another layer until you reach completely clean system. Have patience once your system appears to be clean and you can get online safely you can google any remaining infections some require advanced methods to rid yourself of them also consider scanning in safe mode it can be very helpful
