I have recently been having problems with my computer rebooting by itself and even freezing when I am playing games, printing, surfing the net, and just anything in general. I have tried reseating my graphics card, my cpu, and my memory. I have even gone to the trouble of reinstalling Windows. This is my system specs: AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 512MB DDR PC2100 (2) 80gig 7200rpm hd Geforce4 Ti 4200 64mb integrated sound (2)DVD burners MSI mobo via chipset Ultra KT-400 I have the latest drivers and even took out my other 256MB DDR PC2100 chip out and things seemed to work fine but went back later to rebooting and freezing for no apparent reason. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Sounds like you have heat issues of some sort. Did you use new thermal paste when you reseated your CPU? Did you use enough? What are the temps for your CPU at idle and at load? Do you have adequate cooling for your case? Are the fans clean? Is the ambient temperature of the room high?
I didnt use new paste. I will try that. temp is usually about 39 degrees on start up and after running for awhile it gets to 49. i have adequate air flow with a fan in the front and two fans blowing out the air. no one seems to know what my computer's problems are. im about to shoot it.
