I just got a new computer that has 5.1 surround sound built in and am in need of a new receiver. I currently have a really old sony receiver that has 5.1 dolby pro logic that doesnt seem to work correctly with my pc. Anyone know of a cheap receiver that I can use with my current speakers? I also think that I would need a new sub, since it has a weird system control cable that doesnt seem like it would be supported with newer systems.

If you're looking for a decent cheap receiver, I recommend Onkyo. Very good high-end equipment, and you can get a low base model with surround very pretty inexpensive.

If you have 5.1 surround capabilities on your pc, all you need is a good set of pc 5.1 speakers. I got the Logitech Z-5300e set of speakers, from Best Buy, for $200. They are killer speakers. They have the five satellite speakers, and a big subwoofer. They are THX certified, easy to hook up, and the sound amazes my friends. You should give them a listen, in the store, sometime.
    Good luck!
