Here's the configuration I got from looking at the forums.... I downloaded dvd shrink 3.2 and dvd decrypter and they have worked great until the past few days. I tried to back up Hitch, Flightplan, and the Brothers Grimm and it won't work. It comes up runtime errors and some other error ...I can't recall what it is. These were free downloads. Would it be better to have AnyDVD and Clone DVD and do I still need DVD decrypter? My friend uses the same configuration but has VOB Blocker....what does that do and is it still available free because I couldn't find it. Thanks for any help---I really appreciate it.
Vob Blanker will allow you to remove any unwanted vob files such as dummy files that are encrypted into dvds to make them harder to back up. I'd also advise adding DVD Fab Decrypter to your programs at it is frequently updated to keep up with new copy protections. Both are freeware and can be found fairly easily.
DVDshrink or DVD decrypter cannot backup these flicks alone due to the copy protection on them. DVDFab decrypter should now at its current version, be able to take care of it on it's own. Once DVDFab is done you can go directly to shrink, open the files created by DVDFab using shrink and proceed as usual. Get it here(version 2.9.7.2): http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
Thanks for the info and advice, I will download DVDFab Decrypter. When I back up my movie, i go to DVD Shrink and it analyses, encodes, and then creates an ISO file...it then automatically goes to DVD Decrypter and burns the movie....how do I use DVDFab Decrypter first, before I use DVd Shrink and do I need to get rid of DVD Decrypter?
Sinple, short answer... You start by using DVDFabDecrypter to rip everything onto a folder on your hard drive. Now, remove the original DVD from your drive. Then, fire up DVDShrink. Up at the top, instead of your normal routine (you would usually click on "OPEN DISC" icon), you instead click on the "OPEN FILES" icon. Then, browse to find the folder you just ripped. Double-click on that folder. Look inside for a folder that is called: VIDEO_TS Select the VIDEO_TS folder. From here on out, everything should proceed exactly the way it normally does. You can use DVDShrink to rip this into a NEW folder on your hard drive, and you can compress or shrink, if you like, or you can choose to re-author, if you like. You can also choose to start up DVDDecrypter automatically, for your final burn, or to start up Nero, for the final burn. Nothing has changed. You have just added a new beginning step to the process -- you used DVDFabDecrypter to get the files onto your hard drive, first. Hope this is clear, -Bruce
@leobigs Here's a guide that should answer any of your questions regarding the procedure if you should need it. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/backup with DVDFABDecrypter,Shrink,&Decrypter.pdf
