    Hi there,

Currently i've got a Emprex burner which i've been told isn't very good and recently i've been getting some bad burns and to be honest i don't even think the burner can handle 8x burning despite is says its 16x.

Anyway i've been looking at the following burners to buy:

    Lite-On SHM-165P6S-09C (£22.83)
    Sony DRU-820A (£34.40)
    NEC ND-4571GNS (£25.57)
    Plextor PX-750A/T3 (£45.18)
(excluding P&P) (All prices from www.microdirect.co.uk as a starting point)

I don't really know how good/bad are as burners and for value the above are, so please advise on both those.

Also if you could say what other burners are good and in a price range of £20-40~ are i'd be grateful.

I'm also in the UK so if your gonna give me a site be sure they ship to the UK

    Thanks!

    Hey,

which of those would you say is the best? Would they both do flawless PS2 games and movies?

Also what would you say is the best burner around?

P.S. You linked the LiteOn twice.

I would go with a LiteOn or a BenQ.
    Don't know any UK sites.......
Good luck with whatever you get.

I have a Lite-On drive that works wonders for me. Lately it seems everyone on the borads has been ranting and raving about the BenQ 1650 and 1655(same burner with the addition of lighscribe capabilities.) I'm actually picking one up in a week or two to see what all the comotion is about.

I have a Sony DRU-820A and am very pleased with it. Installed easily, flashed to latest firmware without a problem, and works great for me.

It is a rebadged BenQ (don't know which model though - maybe the 1650?). I remember seeing a review of the Sony posted around here awhile back, but could not find it on a search.

Don't know anything about UK shipping. I like Newegg, but have no idea where they will ship to (besides the US).

I'd put the BenQ DW 1650 or 1655 at the top for price and quality. I got mine ($34) from newegg.com I don't know where in UK it could be had. Liteys are nice also.

    @rulisky
You've got a 1640. I was looking through the firmware page yesterday and remembered seeing it.
