Hiya people, Just wondering if anyone knows of a free spyware package, also removes trojans etc....Does all that sort of thing. Sorry about lack of information, im not really up to date with computer tec and words. If anyone can offer any infomation, that be great. Many thanks Matt : )
Spybot S&D is pretty good http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html i used to recommend Ad-aware, but the new versions of Ad-aware are rubbish.
You only need 1. firewall (zonealarm has a good free one) 2. avg antivirus (free) 3. Only use firefox 2.0 (not hardwired to registry like internet explorer) 4. antispyware not really required, most antivirus can do a good job. but I've used webroot spyware sweeper with good results. 5. But what I recommend the most as your last line of defense is "returnil" which is free. Anytime you start to surf the internet engage returnil, it puts your computer instantly into virtual mode. Any virus you download will only exist in memory. When you reboot anything that occur while in virtual mode is gone. Nothing will get through returnil, it completely seperates your system partition c: drive from the internet.(files can still be saved to a virtual partition or different hard drive) Using the above "antispyware package" has had me virus free for over a year, The only one I stopped using is the spyware sweeper (everytime I did a spysweep it was always comming up clean "no spyware found"). http://www.majorgeeks.com/Returnil_Virtual_System_Personal_Edition_d5702.html
