I have some ISO files that I'd like to edit. (They're tv shows with commercials I'd like to remove and combine several shows on to one disc). In order for me to do the edits, I will need to convert the ISO's to Mpeg. I've scanned various discussion boards and I'm more confused. There seems to be a lot to choose from - and then again, I don't know which ones will do what I need. Someone had recommended ISOBuster, Imtoo DVD Ripper - Is TMPGEnc capable of doing this as well? Through the various discussions, I noticed that a lot of people experience problems with TMPGEnc. Are there different versions of them? I don't mind paying a reasonable price if I have to, but after shelling out $ for programs that I rarely use or don't work, I'd prefer freeware to test them out first. (I also get leary about recommendations from people hawking their own products). I'm somewhat of a novice with limited techno knowledge and would prefer something that's user-friendly. I now use Roxio, Decrypter, Shrink and Nero 7. Thanks very much!
Well after ripping to .vob, I'd recommend a Encoder that does .vob--> .avi then you could use VirtualDub or your choice of NLE to edit the commercials..then convert back to Mpeg or use a authoring program that goes from .avi--> .vob
I've been using VideoReDO to convert VOB's to MPEG and it does a nice job. (BTW, VideoReDo is a GREAT editing program). However, my problem is that a have one disc that has a bad sector of some sort. I can't seem to capture VOB's with Decryptor (keeps saying there's an error), nor can I capture MPEGS through Roxio. I am however, able to capture ISO files with Shrink. But now I have an image file that I don't know how to edit. Which encoder is able to convert from ISO to MPEG?
not sure about the ISO to Mpeg..but if you're having trouble with Decrypter ripping (giving you error) try dvdfabexpress also maybe ImTOO MPeg encoder(.vob->.avi) maybe even iso->>?
Thanks for your suggestion ... I'd forgotten that I had DVDFabDecrypter. Tried that as well so I've come to the conclusion that the disc is probably corrupted. Appreciate your recommendations. thanks again
