Will any/or a particular DVD recorder allow me to hook up my Sony Digital 8 camcorder and edit my home movies to DVD. I currently edit to my VCR. I find this a very simple process. By allowing the camcorder to run I use the pause button on the VCR remote and will edit a one hour tape. The question I ask sales people is...... can do the same thing with a DVD recorder........so far I have not gotten a satisfactory answer. I hope someone in this forum can help me.

    Thanks

Yes you can. You can hook up to a DVD recorder the same way you do to a VCR ... OR, better yet ... most DVD recorders have a firewire input .. My LiteOn LVW-5005 has a front firewire input and will easily transfer from a digital camcorder

That's good to hear. The LiteOn LVW is a unit I've seen mentioned before. I'll be checking it out. Guess the only other question I have is (don't forget, I am a Newbie) when I edit, I really edit. A hour tape can be edited down to mere minutes. The LiteOn will allow me to do that?

I do all of my editing on my Pc .. I'm sure that you can use the LiteOn for editing, but it really is more set up for capturing Tv broadcasts
