I've been using the DVDDecrypt, coupled with the DVDShrink to burn backups of my DVDs. My version of Nero is 5.5.10.54. I notice when DVDshrink starts the burn process, the burn speed is 4x. This is the case when I use 4x media (obviously), and also the case when I use 8x media. Does this version of Nero top out at burning at 4x? Or is it a DVDshrink max? I've thought about buying the Nero 6.xxx if it would allow Shrink to burn my 8x media at 8x, but have been afraid to try after reading other users' problems when they upgraded. My setup now works great with Nero 5.5.10.54, other than the burn speed only being 4x. Anyone else run into this? Is the 4x burn a cap of DVDshrink, or is it a Nero issue? Does Nero 6.xxx allow burning DVD at 8x with the proper media? Thank you,
Thanks guys. So Nero 6.xxx didn't cause you any problems? I may just install it on the desktop that has the 8x burner, and leave the other desktop alone (as it is a 4x burner in that one). Let me know if you had to tweak anything with Nero 6.xxx to get the dvdshrink to burn at 8x, or if it just automatically did it. Thanks,
nope didnt mess with anything- but it could be the media- even though drives can burnup to 8x, most dvdr are designed to go to 4x
Hey, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Much quicker than Nero did (or didn't). I emailed them asking if 6.xx would support 8x recording over a week ago, and no response. Most of my media is 4x, but I did break down and purchase a spindle of 8x, and that is when I noticed that the record speed had maxed out at 4x. I just ordered the upgrade to Nero 6.xxx and will install it on the other desktop and give it a try using the 8x media. Thanks again!
