I have a movie file(avi format)and I need to record on DVD disc so that I would be able to view it on DVD player. What kind of programs do I need? And how can I use those programs? Could you show me the steps of the process?

Another question: I have some movie files (MPEG4) sent from my friend who lives in Israel. My friend said that I need to convert them(files) PAL to NTSC. Do movie files come in PAL or NTSC formats and if yes how can I convert them? What programs do I need to use? Could you show me the steps of the process?

I'm not sure exactly what programs you have at your disposal but, Nero is an excellent all purpose program ...

    avi to DVD  -  http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/125/59/

Nero should be able to handle PAL to NTSC also
