Wondering if there is a card I could buy to install in my PC that would record HDTV from my moxi cable box with AC3 to my computer. (and keep the AC3)? And if there is? what brand do you recommend? I have searched, and I only find cards that PLAY it, but not record it. *edit* I am not interested in recording HDTV from "over the air" broadcast. Only from my cable box.
that card will record HD broadcasts, but doesn't have HD inputs. And that is the trouble I have been having. The so called "HD" cards do not have the component inputs available (and that is a MUST to record in HD). I need to run the 5 part component HD cable to the computer from my moxi cable box. Thank you for your help, but the card you listed above will not work.
How bad do you want it? http://www.fi-llc.com/boards/Products/AccuStream170.php http://www.decklink.com/products/hd/ http://www.promax.com/Products/Detail/130087 and for the mac: http://www.aja.com/products_kona.html
WOW! ...first, I must thank you for your reply. This is what I was looking for and couldn't locate. ...second, I just thought I wanted one. lol Those prices are unbelievable.
If you had a Motorola DCT6412 cable box (mine is from Comcast) you could record HDTV on your PC thru a Firewire/IEEE 1394 cable - no need for a capture card. I filled up a 250 Gig HD in less than a month. The Super Bowl alone was ~30 Gigs (with commercials). Full 1080i or 720p with Dolby Digital AC3 playback thru TheaterTek is flawless. I'm up to my 3rd external HD recording like crazy. Here's the link to a tutorial: http://replayguide.sourceforge.net/dct6412/index.html
what you just said, is exactly what I want to do. But I am stuck with the moxi box from charter cable, and I haven't been able to find a way to transfer movies from my box to the pc. So I figured I would locate a HD capture card and record in real time. But that idea is out because of the price. I'll figure out something one day I guess. lol
