i want to record some mixed songs that come on the radio and song that come on the music channel. i have the RCA's running from the back of my PC to the surround sound. i want to know if anyone knows if there's a way i could record sound directly from the external source to the hard drive or the cd/dvd-rw drive. and if possible video also?

I have done that on occasion. I used creative media organizer that came with my mp3 player. I just jacked the source into my microphone jack ( or was it my input?) and captured in mp3 format.
