Hello, I have a fairly slow HDD (I don't know the exact speed, but it's slow) and I was wondering if there's any way I can record in real time without the audio lagging. I've asked a few of my friends, all of them say I'm SOL. Before I take that answer I wanted to ask you guys since the people here are extremely computer savvy (heh). So is there a way I can record efficiently on my slow HDD? Without the audio lag?

what are you trying to record? and what is the speed of your hard drive 5400 or 7200 rpm?

If you have a 7200 rpm drive and it is slow, then you need to check your DMA.
that would be in control panel\system\hardware\device manager\ide ata/atapi controllers\ from there you will find your hard drive and make sure it's set to ultraDMA, if it's set to PIO then that is your problem.

Are you talking about audio only or video, because there can be problems with audio lagging when capturing video?

The DMA is fine and the RPM is 5400.
I am capturing video in real time and the audio lags. It's not a constant lag though. The sound starts off on sync and then gradually becomes worse.
