red light blink

When I turn my Xbox on I get the blinking red light. What should I do?

This is a hard drive error. Your hard drive has died you can either replace the motherboard and hard drive as a pair or go through multiple steps with a modchip to allow you to create a new drive or lock a previously unlocked xbox drive to the password your motherboard has.

How much would a hard drive and a new motherboard cost? I have Xbox Live and I was wondering, Can I some how transfer my saved game data and profile to the new hard drive?

xbox360 are backwards compatable(play xbox) anyway,apart from the three games that are used to softmod the xbox(for obvious reasons.
