To spawniard if your reading this message pls feel free to laugh. it is funny that after i helped you, my xbox 360 got an RROD... lol anyway, hopefully it could be fixed. can't play my xbox 360 for a week i guess, anyway well does anybody knows if a gamebridge could cause RROD... pls feel free to comment this post.
I will laugh, but only because it made me think of my own deal. I had just fixed 2 360's during the week from the RROD. They where both my bro-in-laws. Then he was having reading issues on BOTH systems. I replaced his laser eyes ( because he is my bro-in-law) and told him to quit using crap media. Verbs only from here on out. The next day my own 360 gave me the 3ROD. I was laughing the whole 45 minutes it took to fix it. I hate working on my own stuff lol.
i remember when it happend to me, i was following burningas's posts seeing how he was making out, then i had bought one off of ebay that i thought i would tinker with. after i got bored with it, i plugged mine in and i had rrod. i was not very happy at all, but now i can sit back and laugh about it i guess.
couple questions. Is it necessary to have rubber washers on BOTH sides of the motherboard? and.. is it necessary to clean off the old old thermal paste before putting the new paste on? ive seen videos do it both ways.
too little or too much will cause the same issue, you just barely want to cover the entire chip in a thin film of compound. hope you got AS5 as ceramique is crap.
ok, just for imformational purposes.. whats does the AS5 syringe actually do, meaning how would using that be any different from putting the paste in a ziplock baggie, cutting a corner, and squeezing it out that way. Besides the syringe making it more precise of a drop, i dont see a difference.
i already send my 360 to texas.. now i just have to wait for it... RROD must die XD anyway... i wish i could do what you guys do to ur xbox 360 but i have too much girly guts on me that i cant touch it.. =)
anyone can do it, girl or guy. You have to have confidence in yourself, and patience. Once you do it, it is like a huge weight is lifted off of your shoulders and you can conquer the world. lol. thats what i feel like when i fix things. but nothing is impossible. (usually) so for those afraid to do this, i recommend it not only for the experience, but the self confidence level it will give you as well. not to metion the knowledge.
for me i guess confidence counts but when i do things seriously like this i get butterflies that i can't even concentrate.. so cant do this crazy ideas.. i would only do it if it is not my 360 =D wink wink...
this is the best link, repaired over ten consoles with this guide. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm
could i have some help please cuz im getting pretty agitated with this whole thing... I did the xclamp fix, repasted the heatsinks, etc., but now when i turn the 360 on waiting for the overheat, instead of turning on and having 3 red lights, i only get 2 and the fan turns off. im pretty confident that its not the screws cuz i adjusted and readjusted alot with the same result. I dont know what else it could be. ive been following this guide: http://rs150.rapidshare.com/files/120304321/ULTIMATE_RROD_Repair_Manual.pdf . any help would be appreciated. thanks.
2 red lights means that it's overheating. Are you sure your heatsink is on right? what happens if you put the xclamp back? Do you get the 3RROD? If you take out the board and look at it, is it bending by the heatsinks?
