    What makes the towel trick work when you get the rings of death. Whats the sciene behind it?

    The console over heats and remelts the solder which allows the CPU and GFX chip to be reseated.

    at best it is a temporary fix. The towel trick is junk and you should open the console and fix it properly. Or have someone who can fix it do it for you.
