reflashing drive questions

I was just wondering if I had to go through all the smae process to reflash the drive ? As set in mode b then flash or mode b restore then flash. wondering why I would like to reflash well I know that once I flashed it everything was working fine all back up games were working untill I noticed the drive wasn't ejecting and was due to the on/off button was on incorrectly so I disasenbled and reassemble and back up games only work sometimes, so if anyone can help it would be appreciated. BTW used verbs, sony and memorex burnt at 2, 2.4, 4, and 6 except for sony only 2.4 hitachi 59 if any one has an idea what it could be thanks
