Reformat multiple movies at once?

i use Easy Avi Divx Xvid to DVD Burner to turn my avi files into divx and then i turn them into isos with dvdshrink, which is effortless and makes my collection alot neater n easily viewed.

i was wondering if anybody knoes if you could set that program to reformat 2-3 avi files. so i could leave them over night and have them all done in the morning.

if not can anyone recommend me a program that can?

I'm not familiar with that particular program. But my past experience with other converting apps would make me guess... no. At least not separately. That would really be convenient but what's the hurry?
Maybe another member can illuminate both of us.

 

VirtualDub, MeGUI, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress all have batch processing abilities. I am sure there are more but those are some that I use.

I am curious though as to what exactly you are doing...

You say you convert AVI's into DivX? What was the elementary video stream from the AVI container in the first place? I would be guessing it's DivX or Xvid to begin with.

Then you said you convert the DivX to an ISO image with DVDshrink... I wasn't aware that DVDshrink could convert DivX to standard DVD format??

Could you explain exactly what you would like to do? So we can help more clearly.

So does TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX. Either program will process as may clips as you add. That's not the original question which is:

We know Shrink doesn't work with DivX so there's something haywire in the question to begin with.

 

I would have assumed the same except the fact that auzkid said he/she "turns them into ISO's"... This gave me the impression that the final output desired was an ISO image. This certainly could have been a mix up of words though, which is why I asked for clarification.

I would recommend my preffered method of converting AVI's to DVD but I'm not sure if auzkid would like it as it is more complicated than most beginners would like.

1) Demux audio stream with VirtualDub Mod.
2) If neeeded convert stereo mp3 audio to 5.1 Dolby using the SuperEQ upmix in MeGUI, or if you absolutely do not want to lose any more sound quality (eg: music video etc.) then decompress the mp3 to LPCM and use that as your audio track.
3) Create an AVIsource script with AVIsynth.
4) Use Cinema Craft Encoder (loading the AVIsynth script) to re-encode a DVD compliant video file from the AVI (also you could use TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress as an alternaltive. Both these apps will allow for 2 pass encoding with full motion search, 10 bit precision etc. etc.).
5) Mux Video and Audio with any DVD authoring/MPEG 2 muxing program.
6) Burn DVD Video files if desired.

Note: If the source is already of considerably low quality, then the above method is probably a little overkill. Personally, I am very fussy when it comes to quality. If the quality is already low and you want to use something quick and easy, then as Creaky said ConvertXtoDVD is probably your best choice.

Oh... Now this should probably be moved back to DVD±R for advanced users, hehe... Just kidding Creaky. Now we need to see if the OP will come back to collect all the help waiting for him here.

 

Yes, I figured it is more than likely more effort than the OP would like to take. I edited my post and added a note after the steps I posted.
