Hi, new at this, have searched previous posts and can't see my specific question answered already, so apologies if i've missed it!

Q: I've 4 changes remaining on my imation dvd burner. If i use eg. decrypter to rip a DVD which has a region different to what my burner is currently set as, will I need to change the region on the burner in order for decrypter (or shrink, etc.) to read it ? I know those programs allow the ripped copy to be region-free as they go onto the hard drive/another blank disc - but will i need to adjust the region in the first place to allow the dvd to be read ? Thanks in advance...

i have had the same problem, but if you dont want to get a hack for your burner you can always have slysoft Anydvd running in the background and you wont have to worry about it anymore.

I didn't quite notice people mentioning this, but Decrypter actually comes with tools to change the region, booktype etc. of your burner (check 'tools', 'drive', then 'region code' or 'change book type'. I've 'disabled' region code for my burner which now becomes region free.

thanks - I haven't had a problem yet, just wondering if i'll be losing the number of remaining changes each time I load a different region disc. looks like i don't need to.
