Hi there i live in the uk with a 40gb ps3 & have bought a couple of games off ebay one being cod4. I was just wondering as it was listed as uk region 2 when it arrived it was a region 4. Will this matter to my online play as i get a lot of updating messages before it starts.
From what I hear games are technically region free. But I think you may have problems playing it online. DVD and BR however are region locked.
Usually this would be a problem, however in the case of COD4 it's not as you can play online with any region.
There is 1 problem, online addons to games are in some cases region locked, like the map-pack for COD4 has to have the same region encoding as the game disk. I have a US COD4 but live in Europe, and the map-pack that i downloaded from my ps-store does not work.
ok guys thanks for the replies. the game actually works i just cant get online with it. It keeps saying downloading game settings. I believe there is a problem with the server.
Yeah as Oraseth said, You won't be able to use the map pack from your region. You will have to download the one from the US playstation store by setting up a US account on your ps3. As for not being able to get online to play, that is propably just your internet connection settings. (Your bandwidth may have been throttled down etc.)
