REGION FREE CODE

    can someone please tell me once and for all what the region free code for the phillips dvp-642 is? does this mean it will play any dvd after it's entered? also what is the procedure to entere it (is it through the remote?) also, this firmware upgrade that everyone is talking about, where do you get it and how do you actually upgrade the unit itself?

    1. Turn on the player.
    2. Open the tray.
    3. Press the following sequence on the remote:
    7 8 9 [OK] then 0 <--- zero
    4. The number 0 will appear on the lower left side of your screen.
    5. Your player is now region free! Put in any DVD and enjoy

    NOTE: this is for US resident/region only, also set the video setting on NTSC via SYSTEM on the remote, this will automatically convert any PAL dvds into NTSC.

    Now you can live free.
