    Hi there,

    I have a Sony Vaio VGC-LS1 machine.

It's optical drive is Matsuhita UJ-846S & is set at Region 1.

    1. How can I make it Region free with out using any soft wares like Any DVD, like my Dell's XPS Toshiba optical DVDRW which is Region Free?

    2. At the moment has no driver /firmware of its own, using windows driver....OS is XP MCE, do I need one & where can I download it from?

Hoping to hear from you smart people,

    Regards!

    Possible solutions

    1) firmware change (if possible to find it)
    2) use dvd region free from www.dvdfab.com
    3) change the drive unit to the 1 like in your dell pc

How do I manually change Region code from 1 to 5?

Is that the reason that it won't burn media both in windows & Ubuntu Hardy....I realized it when was trying to burn an ISO in Ubuntu environment....used different blank media like Verbatim,, Sony but K3b failed in each situation.

I know that I am in RC 5, but what about the media.......is there any way to double check since I would be left with only 3 more options?

    Hoping to hear from you,

    Regards!

Why is Nero giving this error when trying to erase a DVD+RW?

Nero Info tool gives Region Code 1, Region Control 11 or II..........when a blank media is in the RAM drive?
