From last few days i am experiencing problems in installing certain softwares like avg, itunes saying they can't access or write values into my registry,i ran registry mechanic but it was of no help!
more than likely your pc is infected with a trojan or virus. The virus has changed the permissions for your registry. There is a tool on the net that will reset the permissions, if that is what has happened. You first need to disenfect your pc before you do anything else.
What virus protection software are you using? Do you have any spyware or other software such as Firewall protection loaded? These need to be looked at and their settings for a possible lockout of your registry.
i was using kaspersky IS 2006 beta at that time, but after re-installing windows i am using avg free, outpost 3 and microsoft anti-spyware.
Ankur_G If you have done virus scans and spyware scans and your system is clean, then I would suggest removing outpost 3 and Microsoft anti-spyware and then see what happens. You can always re-install them once you find out if that corrects the problems. But I would suggest http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Ad-Aware over either of them.
do ewido scan..beleive me it could be useful its a great program and finds more than most programs. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
