I have windows xp and i have a virus and lots of spyware. I want to just reinstall windows xp. I know that i will lose all of my hd. Is there any way to actually do that without loging onto windows xp because mine is really messed up.

boot from the xp cd, delete & make a new partition, format the drive than load xp from scratch.

Go into your system's BIOS, set the boot order to CD-ROM first. Insert the CD into the drive, and when it says, "Press any key to boot from CD" just simply hit the Enter button..

in order to install XP or any other version of windows for that matter without a cd you need to have all the install files copied onto your computer, but in order to do that you need to have the cd in the firstplace

He also stated that the machine has been compromised. Whether or not the 386 folder is there makes no difference. In this case, the best solution is to wipe the drive and to a fresh install FROM THE CD. If you lost your CD call MS. They can provide a new one for you.

look thru windows explorer to see what is on that cd to see if a recovery cd or stand alone xp cd. most likely recovery cd if has acer on it.

if have key # already than see if a friend has same version of xp as you are using as in home/pro with/without sp1/sp2. other than that will have to buy new xp disk.
