Firstly, when you baught your laptop it should have come with either a recovery disk or a partition on the hard drive that is used for the same opperation. (Both will restore the laptop to factory defaults)

So when you format it should install all the drivers that came with it initially.

Or you may have a seperate disk with the drivers on.

Also could you post how your internet is set up.
e.g is it wireless broadband? (If so what make router and dongles do you use)

Is it broudband through a speedtouch box?
Are you on cable, or is it dial up.

If you could post how it is setup we can give more help as we have more details.

    Thanks.

I'M ASSUMING YOUR USING XP DISK RATHER THAN SUPPORT DISKS OTHERWISE YOU WOULD WOULD HAVE GOTTA ALL THE RIGHT DRIVERS DURING INSTALLATION.

RE-INSTALL XP WITH YOUR HIGH-SPEED LINE (cable and not wireless)PLUGGED INTO YOUR LAPTOP AND THIS WILL HAVE THE MODEM DRIVERS GET INSTALLED AUTOMATICALLY. OR YOU COULD JUST DO THE "ADD HARDWARE" WIZARD IF YOU HAVE THE DISK THAT CAME WITH YOUR MODEM BUT THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO (BROWSE) POINT TO WHERE YOUR DRIVER IS ON THE DISK
OR THE DISK WILL HAVE AN AUTO EXECUTE PROGRAM THAT WILL ADD THE DRIVER HARDWARE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

ONCE THE DRIVER IS INSTALLED YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REBOOT AND SURF

THEN ONCE ON LINE GO TO DRIVERS GUIDE DOT COM OR SOMETHING LIKE IT TO GET THE OTHER DRIVERS YOU NEED...THEY USUALLY HAVE FORUMS THERE WITH PEOPLE WHO WILL FETCH THE DRIVERS FOR YOU ...YUP..SOME PEOPLE ARE THAT COOL

GOOD LUCK BUT REMEMBER THE MORE INFO YOU TELL US THE MORE SOLUTIONS WE CAN TELL YOU

Zer0ink: No All caps, it's bad manners.

burp154: What is the make and model of your PC? The manufacturer's website probably has all the drivers you need.

Are you wired to your router or wireless?

If wireless do you use a dongle or you have a wirless card built in? (Where you just switch it on with a buttin on the laptop)

If its a dongle uninstall the drivers and reinstall then BEFORE you plug the dongle in.

If its a wireless card built into the laptop then check device manager to make sure there is no conflicts, if there is try putting your recovery disk in the drive, right click your hardware and tell it to update. (If there are drivers on the disk for your card it will use them)

But please post what laptop an setup you are using.
