Today I purchased a Samsung 46" b630 LCD tv. It was sold out EVERYWHERE. I ended up purchasing a display model. Then I got to thinking that it's been on a long time every single day. Should I be concerned about it being used too much already in the store and shortening the life span? Should I return it and wait for it to come in stock? Or maybe just up and buy the 5 year warranty for $200? Thanks for the input
I buy display models all the time. However, my formula for whether or not it's a good deal is: Display model + maximum extended warranty < New price - at least 15%. If you didn't get enough discount on a display model to fit the extended warranty, then IMHO, you didn't get a good deal. I purchased a display model Sony XBR. In the first 3 months the main logic board AND the panel both went out. I'm glad I had that extended warranty.
