Hi, I have this movie DOA the original from 1949, black and white, old school and all. I was wondering if there is any programs out there I could use to fix it all up like the big movie companies do when remastering older videos. I don't mean exact remastering, but stuff to clear up foggyness maybe enrich the video so it looks clearer.

If it's avi run it through VirtualDub with the Sharpen filter selected (Video>Filters>Add). There are other filters you can experiment with too.

I have some Star Trek TOS DVDs that had trailers for the next week's episode. They hadn't been restored at all and had horrible film grain and dirt. I got them cleaned up nicely with AviSynth. I don't remember the particular filters I ended up using (I think I did a lot of experimenting with the RemoveDirt and RemoveGrain plugins).

BTW I also have a copy of DOA I've been planning to work on. Actually I have 2 - one downloaded from a public domain website and another on a $1 DVD from Walmart.
