I currently have TVersity running on my MCE machine that streams media files to a D-link DSM-320 in another room. I have been very happy with it so far. I only wish I could stream radio to the D-link. Anyway, I would like to access the MCE machine remotely to either view or stream to my remote location (hotel room).

Is there a good open source software package that can do this?

    Thanks.

There are several programs that will allow you to remotely connect to your computer, but unless you have a really fast connection, you won't have a good experience. Most typical home networks don't have adequate upload speed to be able to stream video. So, unless you have something like Verzon FIOS with 10MB/s upload, you're probably wasting your time.

With that being said, it doesn't hurt to try. I'd recommend a program called VNC. You can read about it and download it from the following site.

Thank for the reply. As a matter of fact I do have Fios and taking advantage of the upload speed has been one of my reasons for wanting to do this.

I will give VLC a try and see how it goes.

    Thanks again.
