I recently bought a Toshiba Tecra A8 laptop and unfortunately its equipped with a MatSHITa DVD Super Multi Drive. The drive has been getting progressively worse and now only reading at like 1.5mb/s when it read at 5.6mb/s when I first got it. I think I'm going to replace it with a Pioneer DVR-K17. Is this a good replacement choice?

Ok, I've done a little research, and I've narrowed it down to the following possible models:

    PIONEER DVR-K17
    Lite-On SSW-8015S
    Sony NEC Optiarc AW-G540A-10
    Samsung SN-S082D

Basically I just want an internal tray drive. External is not an option. These drives all share similar features. Which drive is going to give me the best performance, the fastest reading (DVD Shrink ripping) times, and the best life.

As I said my MatSHITa drive in my laptop now is just about dead. It's not reading like it used to, etc. I don't want this to happen with this new drive. Thanks for the advice!
