I can imagine this question has been asked a billion times, so here's another for the record books since i cannot find a straight forward answer by searching the forum...

I want to install video codecs one by one instead of using a codec pack like k-lite, etc. Recently i had an issue with my computer that forced me to reformat and reinstall so i'm starting off fresh. I've been searching google for about 4 days and have not really found any straight forward answer to my problem / question(s). So without further wait here goes....

I want to install codecs one by one as i previously stated but i've been told to do so, i need to remove the remaining codecs on my system. [bold]Now do i remove them all? or just certain ones?[/bold] Because a list of what i currently have from a program called codec sniper displays a ton of codecs, [bold]i cannot help but think removing all of them would get me into serious trouble[/bold] since i am a complete novice when it comes to codecs....

If i'm to remove them all.... i can do that but i'd like to see a guide thats detailed on installing codecs after wards that are required. I've kinda found this one http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608 but that was back in 2003, and i'm positive its out of date...

When i list codecs installed on my system with another program called filmerit, it shows a lot more than what codec sniper shows, but that list is far too much to post here i'd figure.

Someone, anyone please toss me a bone here

Here's that list from codec sniper:

Forgive me for so saying, but one of the reasons for installing K-Lite is that you can always uninstall the codecs simply by uninstalling K-Lite, plus the codecs have always been checked to be without conflicts.
