Alkohol advised me how to back up copyright DVDs using DEcrypter..my question is how can I get rid of sections of original DVD that contains interviews with fans etc? save me fast forwarding
Hi again gwendolin, It's been sometime since I've worked with Alcohol 120% BUT by using either DVD Shrink in the re-Author mode OR by using Nero's Recode2 in the "Remake a DVD" mode (I like that the best as it keeps my menus), what you wish to do is extremely easy. Both proggys have a start/ end editing proggy that will do that job in the wink of an eye. All you need do is watch the preview window as you play the DVD forward and when the interview begins, stop the action. Then use the "end" feature, find that place where the interview ends and "snip". The two ends will join. Go on to the next section. If you have quite a few of these "puppies", Use DVD2One to join all the sections together in the "Join" mode, then select the "Seamless" feature and DVD2One will join them all up so that no-one could ever tell the difference. A beginner can accomplish all this in very little time. Here is a guide for DVD2One ~ Just pretend it's a "flipper movie" (a DVD with 1/2 the movie on each side of the DVD disc). For 2 Discs on 1 use DVD2One in the "Join" mode. The join mode is a very powerful new feature of DVD2one. It can be used for many things: Joining a movie that has been spread over 2 sides of a disk (aka "flipper") or even over 3 disks. Joining of different episodes of a (TV) series on 1 disk. Adding a music video, documentary or Featurette after the main movie. Adding an intro (for instance THX or Dolby) before the main movie. Or any combination of the above possibilities ! The join mode is not limited to only 2 titles, but it can join any number of titles on 1 disk. Of course the total size of the titles you want to join has its limits. DVD2one has built-in warning messages to let you know when you go to far. The join mode has 2 different modes: Seamless. The separate titles are joined in 1 titleset, and will play continuously without interruption. Non-seamless. Each title is put in its own titleset, and there will be a small delay when the player goes from one to the other title. The seamless mode is the perfect mode for joining a movie that has been spread over different sides or disks. DVD2one will examine automatically whether the different titles can be seamless joined together. For this the video, audio and subtitles need to be the same. The non-seamless mode will work with any title, and can be used in all other cases. DVD2one provides convenient ways to skip through the different title sets. How to use The join mode is very simple to use, since it works like a repeated movie-only mode. After selecting the first title you come to a summary screen. Here you can select another title you like to add to the list, or start processing. If you select to join another title, you will advance through the selection screens again. The only difference is when using seamless mode, you do not have to select audio, subtitle and angle. The selection for these items is taken from the title to which the new title is seamlessly joined. Advanced Navigation Mode This new feature is experimental and may not work correctly with specific DVD players, or may have some unwanted side effects. It is recommended to try it first with a re-writable disk. It adds the following ways to navigate between the different title sets: · Right menu button for next titleset. · Left menu button for previous titleset. · Next chapter at the last chapter of a title Goes to the next titleset. · Previous chapter at the first chapter of a Title goes to the previous titleset. The menu button system may interfere with subtitles. Also if a titleset does not have subtitles, a dummy subtitle is added to make this feature to work. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd2one.cfm About $35.00 (USD) But well worth the $$ - I've never regretted my purchase of it. The Demo only does 30 minutes of movies. FYI, Using this proggy, I have put 3 episodes of the Sopranos on a single disc and I have put 3 trimmed DVD-9 movies on a single disc and 4, DVD-5's on a single sided DVD.. 5 -hours of movies is a snap. Cheers, Pete
Thanks Pete, I will give it a go...thanks for the "nice" words. I was using the 0.5.2.99 version of VSO DiVXtoDVD but downloaded the new version, got a little scared at what I saw so chased up old version. An Email to vso helped solve my delima apparently you cant get the older version anymore at AD
ScubaPete or somebody please help me. I have decrypted the DVD and sent files to a folder on hard drive, now I want to burn using Nero Recode and remove interviews etc. Can you run through the steps for me
@gwendolin, I'm glad that you're able to follow my little guide and was able to have a successfully burned. Good for you. I'm a little bit tired and need some sleep due to work in a few hours, so I'll just shoot the basic and simple way down quick. I would give you the full guide/tutorial if I have the times, but am really tired now, my eyes are slowly closing as I'm typing now. So with only the basic steps: *** open up your Nero Recode 2 *** on the same page as "Encode an Entire DVD to DVD" *** choose whatever you want i.e. "Encode main Movie to DVD" or "Remake a DVD", once you're on the next page, just "UNCHECK" any "audio, subtitles, or extras" that you DON'T WANT it. I guess I'm heading to bed now.
thanks once again I will try that but if Scuba pete or somebody can elaborate. I am in no hurry so go enjoy your sleep and hope to hear from you soon.LOL
@gwendolin, Like I said; just follow that little quick steps, then "uncheck" any unneccessary stuff that you don't want to keep, once you feel like you've taken out most junk out, hit NEXT and then BURN and you should be all square away. I'll be back with another guide tomorrow, or sometimes later, if I have more times all right, and if this thread gets too far behind then I'll just PM you with my little guide that's all. In the mean time, why don't you give it shot and play it with it for awhile and see what's the results. I gain my knowledge from reading all these stuff in here and did it myself. So, it won't hurt to try with a DVD+RW or DVD-RW disc you know. At least, you can rewrite it once you didn't like it. OK, I really need to go sleep now, stupid me for being an afterdawn addicts... hehehes... lol I can't see nothing while typing.... so see you around here. Be back soon.
I just cant seem to get it to work I have "fiddled" with it for a while but didnt succeed.Help please
As I said before, Recode2, Remake a DVD mode ~Import Files ~ Drag the DVD's main file from the "Browse" window to the left-side of the screen. When it's loaded up, use the start/finished as I descibed above and you'll do fine - Cheers, Pete
her I go showing how dumb I am. I went into remake DVD, import files played preview in small window , the interviews came on and I hit start/end...2 screens[left& right] came up headed SetStart/End Frames and then I lost the plot. Am I on the right track or even getting close???
Hey Guys, you're right there ~ a small guide for editing with Recode2 Let's make an example: Let's say there's something you want at the beginning, then something you don't want, then something you want again. In Recode2 begin with "Remake a DVD" Mode. Import your movie files. Move the main movie over to the content side of the window (the left-hand side) DON'T TOUCH THE START BUTTON. Move the end slider over to the end of the piece you want. Now you'll have a short clip of something you want. Save that to your HD and mark it section #1. Now, import the movie again. Move the main movie to the Content side again. Using the "start/end" - move the "Start" to the beginning of the next section you want, bypassing the first section that you already have and the first piece of film you never wanted to begin with. Now move the "End" to the end of the second section you want. Save that to your HD and name it section #2. When you're done, you may have 8 pieces of things you want with the end of each meeting the beginning shot of the next one. If you pay attention, it should blend all together so that no one can tell the difference 1. To finish, import the separate pieces, in their proper order into Recode2 and instead of saving to your HD, burn them to disc and if needed, select, "Advanced Analysis" and "Tick" High Quality Mode". I think however, that if you're doing all this editing on a commercial DVD, the finished product will be small enough that you won't require any compression and you'll have a perfect 1:1 copy OR, if you want to compile everything using DVD2One, 2. NOW open DVD2One, set it for the join mode, as you're putting the pieces in, you'll find a place where you can choose between a seamless connection and a non-seamless connection (a small bit of black screen). Choose the "seamless" connection - After they are all together, allow DVD2One to encode them then burn to disc, Cheers guys, Let me know how you made out, Pete
Ahh good on you ScubaPete I knew you'd come through for me. I am away from home for a few days and may not be able to attempt to put your suggestions to action but I am keen to give them a whirl. LOL
I finally managed to follow your instructions and can now remove unwanted frames but I still have a problem, after I end up with edited piece how do I save it to HD, I cant see any way of doing it.
scuba pete is my hero, i have lots of his guides saved in my favorites..... since you have used dvd decrypter, then use dvd shrink, (both freeware) then nero and petes guide !!! here http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide13.html hth
Like laurenzo I can cut out credits at start and end but its the ones between songs, the interviews that I want to remove and join up "Interview Free"
i am confused now with both you and laurenzo... you want to cut out songs and credits in the middle of a dvd?
Same problem, I have a DVD of a concert recorded "live" and in between songs the twits have placed interviews with the fans asking them about the group, it spoils the DVD and I want to edit so I can have just the performance.
omg, thats so easy......... its right at your finger tips.... petes guide above is right there for you in black and white...., here, let me highlight the spot you need !! only thing is, its not a tv show editing out commercials, but same basic idea.... follow Pete STEP by STEP there, and you got what you need, i promise ! good luck
